Aerial photograph in the autumn of the village and landscape of Strafford in Orange County, eastern Vermont
Aerial photograph in the autumn of the village and landscape of Strafford in Orange County, eastern Vermont. The large white steeple building looks like a church but is the Strafford Meeting House. King George III chartered the town in 1761. Strafford is one of the most picturesque towns in rural New England, and an example of Yankee grace, simplicity, and Americana. Strafford was home to clergyman and activist William Sloane Coffin and to Justin Smith Morrill, a U.S. Senator. Photograph by Nathan Benn taken October 1973.
