Photograph of men placing buckets to collect sap from maple trees in Plainfield, Vermont. The pails are carried to the forest on a sled pulled by a team of oxen. The men tap maple trees for sap and boil the sap to maple syrup during a spring thaw. Ox is not widely used as farm animals in Vermont. Photograph by Nathan Benn taken March 8, 1973.
